SFA-5.6: Specification for Covered Copper and Copper Alloy Arc Welding Electrodes

This specification provides the requirements for classifying covered copper and copper-alloy electrodes used for SMAW. Welding electrodes in this specification are classified based on the chemical composition of the undiluted weld metal deposit. The copper content exceeds that of any other element. The classification is similar to the stainless steel electrodes in that the designators following the letter “E” represent the chemical composition of the weld deposit. Electrodes in this specification are used to weld a wide range of copper-based alloys, such as copper, aluminum bronze, phosphorous bronze, silicon bronze and copper nickel.
